Ron - medicine Ceremony
I came to the practice of working with sacred plants as medicine after embarking on my own journey of healing from PTSD and addiction (I have more than a decade of recovery from substance abuse). My transformation and healing came from combining my mindfulness practice with the use of sacred plant medicines. Bringing these two practices together I saw immediate improvement in my daily life and rapid recovery from my traumatic past, while simultaneously coming into contact with the beauty of my divine being. In doing so I reclaimed my masculinity, forged a connection with the feminine and was able to see with more clarity the world around me.
My eagerness to learn about this path lead me to work and study with a medicine facilitator and teacher in North America.. Their teaching and practice with plant medicines for the past 30 years is rooted in the traditions of the Vedic and South American Traditions of holding ceremonial space. I combine both these traditions along with my mindfulness and trauma practices in the ceremony space I provide. I believe it is important that as a facilitator and teacher it is important to fully embody and model the divine masculine presence. I find this helps to maximize the opportunity for positive transformational healing and expanded consciousness for all who participate in a ceremony or therapeutic work.
The ability to be present and aware has been crucial to my own personal journey and my passion to expand my awareness and consciousness lead me to spend two years training with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach two of North Americas recognized leaders in the Buddhist Mindfulness movement. As mindfulness teacher at the Bodhi Tree in Nosara Costa Rica and other retreat centers I have been able to support my clients and students to be able to step into stillness and vulnerability so they can arrive for their lives and discover the joy of the heart.
The fact that PTSD and Trauma have been linked scientifically to addictive behaviors is not one that was lost on me in my journey of expansion and healing. My work with veterans, first responders, medical professionals, survivors of childhood trauma, rape, molestation, and violence inspired me to expand my practice to support those individuals seeking the integration and healing from these events in their past. I have trained with and received a certificate from Gabor Mate a recognized leader in the area of trauma and PTSD therapy in Compassionate Inquiry.
Prior to embarking on this path of supporting the transformational expansion and healing of myself and others, I worked in Silicon Valley for 30 years. I was responsible for development of technology for the Nintendo 64, XBOX 360, Silicon Graphics Supercomputing Platforms, and many other early computing pioneers. My early work in industry gave me the opportunity to not only develop some of the early technologies that made the internet and compute and AI platforms we take for granted today, but it also gave me the opportunity to develop and patent new technologies for memory technologies and data communication that continue to be used in products today. I have spent the better part of those 30 years building, mentoring and training global engineering workforces to develop high performance technology for small and large corporations as well founding my own startup company. I sit on the advisory boards of small non profits corporations focused on community building, homelessness and performing arts.
